The below roles are roles undertaken by our brigade. To be an active member of our brigade it is preferred that you live around Hobart's Southern Shores (Taroona / Sandy Bay / Kingston) for the simple reason that you will not be able to turn out if you are out of area. when you have finished reading this section click the continue to contact details at the bottom of this page.
New Members Welcome Positions Now Availabe
New Recruits: If you have no history with another TFS Brigade or have little or no fire fighting experience you will be classed as a New recruit where you will undergo a basic fire fighting course before being allowed to turn out to fire calls.
Active Fire Fighters: As an active fire fighter you will be issued with full personal protection equipment otherwise known as PPE or Turn out gear and a pager. You will be invited to assist with hazard reduction burn offs and respond to a variety of fire calls. Active members are encouraged to take up further training courses in areas such as Wild Fire, Structural Fire Fighting, Introduction to Hazmat etc.
Auxiliary Firefighters: As an auxiliary firefighter you will not be required to attend call-outs but may be able to assist with hazard reduction burns and help logistically during major bushfires and other large incidents. You will receive basic training and bushfire PPE to enable you to complete logistics work on the fire ground. You will have the opportunity to complete further courses; however Active Firefighters will have preference where an opening exists.
Social Members: This level of membership is for those people who are unable to turn out to fire calls for what ever reasons. As a social member you can partake in most areas of brigade training and assist with the running of any community events that our brigade assists with in the suburb.
